During their brief Thanksgiving week trip to DFW from Colorado, we were able to squeeze in a botanical gardens and Grapevine Lake maternity session in for my very favorite sister-in-law and her husband. (Okay, she’s my only sister-in-law but she really is awesome.) Thanks to fabulous Texas weather we were able to give them two very different looks for their session.

We started off with some beautiful fall foliage at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens.Next we explored Grapevine Lake and found this perfect little stretch of shore just as dusk was settling in. (Great find, Ian!) Although the day had been relatively warm for November it definitely got chillier as we stood in the lake breeze as the sun went down. Cherie’s stylish halter maternity dress may have left her colder than the rest of us but she certainly didn’t show it. I don’t think I got a single photo where she didn’t look gorgeous!If strolling along the shore of a lake at sunset with the love of your life isn’t the perfect way to end a maternity session I don’t know what is. I hope that the experience of the photo session was as enjoyable for them as it was for me. I think they’ll treasure these images documenting their last few weeks as a family of two. They’ll be welcoming baby M in less than two months. I can’t wait to meet him!
